The Great Remembering: Ancestral Connection Event Series
Reclaiming Our Natural Spiritual Power as Humans & Honoring the Lineages That Shape Us
In a modern world that has long sought to sever our connection to the unseen, we are gathering to remember—to reclaim the spiritual birthright that resides within us all. Through a series of six events, we will reconnect with the wisdom of our ancestors, honor the lands that hold us, and step into a new way of relating—with love, reverence, and deep remembrance.
This is an invitation to:
- Establish and restore confidence in yourself as a spiritual being.
- Restore a lineage of knowing—to listen, heal, and honor those who walked before us so that we may move forward with clarity, courage, and integrity.
Our Intention
We understand navigating the conversation around our ancestors as members of post-modern society can come with some delicate and confusing feelings. We (Christy, Kiley, and Irka) want to amplify this message:
We gather as members of a shared human lineage, seeking healing for ourselves, our ancestors, and the generations yet to come. This work is about acknowledgment, healing, and action—a way of moving forward with clarity, compassion, and intention. We do not gather in guilt, but in love. We do not gather in shame, but in remembrance. We do not gather in separation, but in unity.
Join us in this sacred remembering.
Who is this for?
This series is for those who feel the call to reconnect—to themselves, to their ancestors, and to the unseen forces that move through all of life. No matter your background, this work invites you to step into relationship with your lineage and with the lands you walk upon. Whether you are deeply engaged in ancestral work or just beginning to explore your roots, these ceremonies will provide an accessible and transformative space for connection and healing. There is an emphasis on learning and building upon skills so you can deepen your own personal practice.
These ceremonies do not involve entheogentic substances. They involve instrumental rhythms, drumming, and expert guidance from Akutu Irka.
Meet Irka Mateo – Your Guide on This Sacred Journey
Introducing Irka Mateo, a radiant Taino woman from the Dominican Republic, celebrated elder, medicine woman, and master ceremonialist. For over 35 years, she has captivated audiences as an award-winning singer-songwriter and recording artist, becoming a pioneer of the Dominican alternative music movement. Her wisdom, artistry, and vibrant spirit will inspire and uplift you. This year, she has been nominated Taino woman of the year for her pioneering work uplifting her peoples traditions for decades.
More than a ceremonialist, she is an educator who specializes in teaching you how to navigate your ancestral lineages with skill and compassion.
You can learn more at her website and social media @sacredtainohealing.
Meet your hosts, Kiley and Christy Hartigan.
We are a mother – daughter duo of professionally certified life and relationship coaches. We created JourneyOn LLC 4 years ago and we specialize in two key areas. First, coaching women to transform their mother-daughter relationship out of old patterns and into a new sacred chapter. Second, bridging modern and indigenous wisdom by hosting wisdom keepers from indigenous traditions from Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, and now this year from the Dominican Republic. Last year for example, we had the privilege of hosting Nana Mimi from Lago Atitlán for three weeks and ten ceremonies, who generously shared her Mayan tradition with our community through cacao, fire, tobacco, and Mayan abdominal womb massage.
This year, we’re carrying this momentum forward with humility and gratitude.
The seeds of this collaboration with Akutu Irka were planted in 2024 when we met at a conscious gathering in the rolling hills of Nebraska, where we had the privilege of experiencing her lead an ancestral connection ceremony. As we lay side by side in the ceremonial space, my mom and I simultaneously turned our heads and locked eyes. Without a word spoken, we exchanged a knowing nod, recognizing the need to connect further with Akutu Irka. United by a shared mission to bridge indigenous and modern wisdom and a passion for evolving the maternal lineage, our collaboration blossomed naturally. Thus began a series of conversations to explore what we could create together. Read below to see what we’ve created!

Each journey is sacred and unique, allowing us to listen to the voices and stories of those who came before, to bear witness to their wisdom, and to see how their lives still move through us today. A note on Ceremony Three: Maternal Lineage Metamorphosis
This event will be hosted at the StarHouse, a gorgeous temple space in the foothills of Boulder. In honor of Mothers Day, we dedicate this ceremony to releasing and recommitting within the context of the maternal lineage. With deepened understanding, we release inherited guilt, shame, and pain—making space for a new commitment of love, compassion, sweetness, and action. This is about forging an allyship with our ancestors, not from a place of burden, but from a place of devotion and honor. We ask: How can we honor their sacrifices and dreams? How can we lean on them for support as we carry forward in our own lives?
Rhythm Circles
These circles are not ceremonies. They are instructional spaces for learning sacred rhythms that call forth the presence of the great Mother and her son, in Irka’s Taino culture. These rhythm circles will deepen our ceremonial practice and allow us to carry these ancestral songs into our own lives.
We highly recommend attending the music circles and the ceremonies together, so you’ll feel thoroughly prepared and comfortable in the ceremonies. The songs and rhythms are tools for connection, helping us bridge the seen and unseen worlds.
Ticket Starting Cost for the Rhythm Circles: $40
Ticket Tier Pricing Overview
Welcome to our ticketing tier system. We personally don’t like sliding scales because we find them to be obscure when it comes to events. So, we have created this system so you know exactly what your money is going towards. We have structured this pricing structure with the highest priority to honor Akutu Irka’s time and expertise. We aim to have a substantial positive economic impact for her and her community. Last year, when we hosted Nana Mimi from Lake Atitlán, we were able to send her many times more than the annual income in Guatemala, which has had tremendous positive ripple effects into her community. We strive to make a similar impact this year.
All tickets are on sale till May 1st.
Currently, our payment systems are under construction so we’re temporarily using Venmo to manage registrations. Venmo link provided below:
Work-Trade Ticket:

- For each event, we have the need for four support team members. This includes someone to manage parking, someone to manage checking participants in, someone to help us set up and clean up, etc. In exchange for a more-than half-off ticket, you agree to arrive 1 hr before the event begins and stay for at least 20 minutes after the event ends. We will assign roles day-of, however it makes the most sense.
- There are only four of these tickets sold for each event.
Tier 1: Planting the Seed
- $70
- Cover hard costs so the event breaks even.
Tier 2: Watering the Seed
- $80

Tier 3: Helping it Grow

Tier 4: Nourish the Soil
- $133

Integration
JourneyOn’s mission is to bridge indigenous and modern wisdom through our coaching programs and events. In service of this, we pay close attention to integration. As people blessed with both the privilege and the curse of living in modern society, it’s difficult for indigenous wisdom to actually land practically in our lives. Life gets busy, and we often have to swim upstream against the currents of consumerism and capitalism to actually embody the values of connection, community, and relationality that traditional wisdom commonly imparts upon us. Integration is particularly important to let these seeds that are sown in our hearts, body’s, and minds take root and grow in a practical way.
We have several offerings to support your integration of this experience.
1. Healing Sessions with Irka Mateo
Irka has been a healer for 40 years and her healing sessions are truly one potent.
You get to choose from her offerings what feels most aligned for you.
She offers a sliding scale for her 90-minute sessions from $150-250. Stay tuned for a separate sign up link for these.
2. Integration coaching with Kiley or Christy.
We have been in active service of bridging indigenous and modern wisdom into our professional and personal lives for the last 6 years. Furthermore, we are professionally certified coaches and certified psychedelic integration coaches with 4000+ hours of direct coaching experience. A few of the series passes below have integration sessions included.
-
- Here us discus our integration philosophy in this 30 minute interview with CloseUp Radio, a national broadcast.
- You can also book an introductory session with us here.
3. Free community integration circles.
Hosted monthly around the full moon, these are gently facilitated group discussions woven with seasonal rhythms of nature and storytelling. We also commonly invite community members to lead a particular discussion topic or ritual practice they are skilled in.
-
- You can find them on our events page.
4. Mother-Daughter metamorphosis workshops.
We specialize in evolving the maternal lineage through our workshops and 2-month coaching program. This is one of the reasons why this collaboration with Irka flowed so easily. The mother-daughter relationship is the axis around which generations turn. When this bond transforms, it ripples outward, changing how we show up as women, mothers, daughters, leaders, and healers in every sphere of life.
