Join us for an enlightening journey into the heart of Mayan tradition with special guest, Miriam Novichoc, affectionately known as Mimi. A custodian of authentic Mayan lineage, Mimi invites us to experience the sacred Fire Ceremony, an ancient practice that has nurtured the spiritual and communal life of the Maya people for millennia. This ceremony is not merely an event; it’s a communion with the divine, offering purification, renewal, and the opportunity to harmonize personal and cosmic energies.
At the core of the Fire Ceremony is the elemental power of fire, revered by the Maya as a purifier and a medium for communication with the gods. Through the ritual burning of offerings and the utterance of prayers, participants engage in a sacred dialogue, expressing gratitude and seeking guidance. The ceremony fosters a deep sense of community, uniting participants in a circle of shared intentions and collective reverence for being alive together.
Guided by Mimi, we will all participate in rituals that embody Mayan cosmology, including the honoring of the four cardinal directions—each associated with a specific color, element, and aspect of life. This holistic approach weaves together the physical and spiritual, highlighting the interconnectedness of all beings and the balance essential for harmony with nature.
Mimi’s role as a spiritual leader ensures the ceremony’s integrity and authenticity, providing a bridge to the wisdom of her ancestors. Participants are invited to bring offerings, set intentions for healing and growth, and partake in the grounding communal energy that the fire generates. It’s an opportunity to experience firsthand the power of Mayan rituals to cleanse, renew, and align with the divine.
Mimi will be hosting several Fire Ceremonies during her stay, each a unique opportunity to connect with the ancient practices of the Mayan people.

This Fire Ceremony is part of a broader array of workshops led by Mimi, delving into Mayan cacao, tobacco, astrology, and womb massage, each opening a window to the rich spiritual heritage of the Maya. You can find event invitations to all of them by visiting our events page.
Our collaboration with Mimi epitomizes JourneyOn’s commitment to bridging indigenous wisdom with the modern world. Encountering Mimi’s ceremonies in Guatemala inspired us to host her in the U.S., sharing her deep knowledge and spiritual practices with a wider audience. We’re treating this almost like an artist in residency, where Mimi hosts whatever events she feels called to facilitate and we simply support her in organizing everything behind the scenes. More than two thirds of all ticket sales go directly to Mimi, making this a significant economic opportunity for her.
